Amazon releases first trailer for Cinderella

This modern musical take follows Coming 2 America and The Tomorrow War as films which went straight to the streamer.

Amazon has released the first trailer for its upcoming Cinderella film.

Originally slated for a cinematic release this July, Sony decided to move it to the streamer in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

This musical version presents a much more modern take on the classic tale which stars singer Camila Cabello as the orphaned Ella living with her wicked stepmother (Idina Menzel).

After her fairy godmother (Billy Porter) allows her to attend a royal ball, she’s more focused on getting her dressmaking business off the ground than settling down into marriage with the handsome Prince Robert (Nicholas Galitzine).

Minnie Driver, Pierce Brosnan, Maddie Baillio, Charlotte Spencer and James Corden also star.

Cinderella was directed and written by Kay Cannon, who previously helmed the hit 2018 teen comedy Blockers.

Plenty of adaptations of Cinderella have followed Disney’s animated classic from 1950, including Kenneth Branagh’s live-action adaptation in 2015 starring Lily James, Richard Madden, Helena Bonham Carter and Cate Blanchett.

You can stream Cinderella on Amazon Prime from 3rd September 2021.
