What is Sky Superfast 35? | Sky Superfast 35 cost, deals & information
Sky’s value broadband that everyone can enjoy.
Please note: This package has been discontinued. The closest equivalent would be Sky Superfast or Sky Full Fibre 75.
What is Sky Superfast 35?
Sky Superfast 35 is Sky’s self-described value broadband, available to homes in the UK that have FTTP (fibre to the premises).
It offers the lowest average speed in their broadband range at the lowest cost, but this is not to mean that it is not up to scratch.
Superfast 35 broadband is still strong and reliable wifi and is perfect for those who don’t need a lot.
What speed is Sky Superfast 35?
Sky Superfast 35 has average download speeds of 36Mbps and upload speeds of around 9Mbps.
These speeds are good for households of one to three with limited devices connected to the router.
It is capable of handling various tasks, such as streaming videos and browsing the internet. It should also handle any online video games you may play, as they usually require a steady and fast connection, which this does offer.
As for working from home, it should be more than capable of carrying out everything you’d need to do, including video calls.
Is Sky Superfast 35 full fibre?
Sky Superfast 35 does use fibre, although it is FTTC (fibre to the cabinet). This is different to FTTP and is the reason for the slower speeds.
FTTC refers to a fibre line that runs from the telephone exchange into the roadside cabinets (the green boxes along the roads). From there, the connection runs into each house via a copper line to provide broadband to the houses.
This is slightly different from FTTP (fibre to the premises), where instead of a copper line from the cabinet to homes, it uses fibre lines all the way, providing the quickest speeds possible.
Both connections are still fibre, with the difference being that the copper lines aren’t capable of transmitting data across them as quickly as fibre optic cables.
The speeds will also differ depending on how far away your house is from the cabinet. The closer you are, the better the speeds as the data won’t have as far to transmit.
This is not to say it isn’t as reliable, though. The copper lines are still stable and will provide a steady connection.
What is the difference between Sky Superfast 35 and Sky Superfast?
The difference between Sky Superfast 35 and Sky Superfast is the speeds. Sky Superfast is the next step up from Superfast 35, offering 61Mbps average speeds along with 16Mbps upload speeds.
Both are priced the same, but this is due to Sky recommending the fastest speeds possible to every customer.
Superfast is available via FTTC and FTTP, so you would be recommended Superfast depending on what your household is capable of.
Is Sky Superfast 35 any good?
Sky Superfast 35 is perfect for households who don’t use as much broadband and who have limited devices that would need to be connected.
While it doesn’t offer the quickest speeds available, Sky Superfast 35 is still fibre broadband and does provide reliable speeds.
How much is Sky Superfast 35?
Sky Superfast 35’s standard cost is £39.50 a month for an 18-month contract.
However, Sky often runs special offers on many of their services, as do we here at Digital TV.
