FA Cup Final 2024: When is it, what channel it’s on & more

Back-to-back Manchester Derbys, what a treat…

The domestic football season is coming to a close which means champions shall be crowned soon, including in the FA Cup.

As the world's oldest football competition, the glory of lifting the coveted trophy is a high honour for any British side.

This year's competition has had its final matchup set, seeing a replay of last year’s showdown.

Have your questions regarding information on the big game answered ahead of the FA Cup Final 2024, including when is the 2024 FA Cup Final, who is playing in the FA Cup Final and what channel is the FA Cup Final on?

FA Cup story so far

This year’s competition has had its magic as it always does. Giant killings and fairytale runs were the par as ever, but none more so than Coventry City’s campaign.

The 1987 FA Cup winners made it all the way to the semi-finals, beating Premier League side Wolves along the way.

Their run was devastatingly halted by Manchester United in the semi-final at Wembley, although they came away looking like winners robbed, having come back from 3-0 down and even scoring the winner in the dying seconds of the game only to have it stripped away from them via literal millimetres seen only in VAR.

Maidstone United, who reside towards the top of the National League South (sixth tier), was the biggest surprise package of this year's campaign, making it to the fifth round but coincidentally came up short against Coventry.

One of the best games of the competition (aside from Coventry’s mega comeback) happened early on in the third round as Arsenal and Liverpool played out a heavyweight classic, with the Reds of Merseyside coming away as the victors late on.

Who is playing in the 2024 FA Cup Final?

The final will see a replay of last year, being an all-Manchester affair as the reigning champions Man City once again face their biggest rivals Man United.

Last year was the first time ever that the Manchester Derby was contested in a cup final, so it’s a real treat to have it once again just a year later.

The fixture last year saw City come away as champions in a fairly close affair, finishing 2-1 to the Cityzens thanks to a brace from Ilkay Gundogan.

The reigning champions City are looking to make it back-to-back wins for the first time in the club's history and the first time a side has done that in the FA Cup since Arsenal in 2014 & 2015.

As for United, they are aiming for their first FA Cup title since 2016 and their 13th altogether, putting them one behind the current record-holders Arsenal.

Both Manchester sides will want to be the ones lifting the trophy for their own reasons, so the question is, will there be a different outcome this year or will it be deja vu?

When is the 2024 FA Cup Final?

The 2024 FA Cup Final will be played on Saturday 25th May, six days after the conclusion of the Premier League season and one day before the Championship Play-offs Final.

Where will the 2024 FA Cup Final be played?

As has been the case for the vast majority of FA Cup Finals, Wembley Stadium will be the battleground for this year's Final.

What time is the 2024 FA Cup Final?

The FA has officially confirmed that kickoff for the FA Cup Final will be at 3pm.

What channel is the FA Cup Final 2024 on?

Full broadcast details are yet to be confirmed; however, it should be expected that both ITV and BBC will be showing the game live on free-to-air.

FA Cup winners

The FA Cup has been running since 1871 and in that time it has been won by 44 clubs.

With the prestige that the competition carries, every team wants to be the victors each year, and as such, it is typically the top Premier League sides coming away with the trophy, so it makes it so sweet to enjoy a good fairytale run.

It’s not always teams from the top flight winning it, though. Numerous sides from outside the first division have won the competition in the past, with the most recent being West Ham back in 1980 (they had finished seventh in the second division that season).
