Sky’s latest offering in their Glass range is the Glass Air, a new smart TV model arriving in June 2025.
The device represents a more accessible addition to Sky’s existing TV lineup, targeting a broader demographic with a lower price point and simplified design.
Aimed at broader audiences
Sky Glass Air is positioned as a value-focused alternative to the higher-end Sky Glass Gen 2. According to internal data, the new model is expected to appeal particularly to younger viewers and to those who wish for a more budget-friendly Sky option, two segments the company aims to better capture with this release.
Sky is marketing the Glass Air as a “smarter TV for less,” with the goal of expanding its presence in the mid-market TV sector. Research cited in Sky’s launch materials shows the Glass Air could increase Sky's addressable market share by up to 1.8 times compared to its existing Glass customer base.
Like with the Glass and Glass 2 before it, Sky provides the option for customers to purchase their Glass Air either outright or paid monthly as part of their Sky subscription. The prices vary depending on size, with the choice of three to choose from. Here is how much they cost:
Size | Outright Cost | Monthly Cost (24 Months)* | Monthly Cost (48 Months)* |
43-inch | £309 | £12 | £6 |
55-inch | £509 | £20 | £10 |
65-inch | £649 | £26 | £13 |
*Subject to status and individual circumstance. £20 upfront payment required. Additional subscriptions are charged separately to the Sky Glass credit agreement.
Choosing monthly payments comes with the benefit of Sky’s 0% APR with a Consumer Credit Agreement, allowing customers to spread their payments without overspending.
Monthly payments will be added to the Sky TV subscription and come with a required £20 upfront payment – a one-off fee to cover administrative and setup costs.
Core specs and design
Sky Glass Air comes equipped with a 4K Quantum Dot (QLED) display, delivering peak brightness of 420 nits and 95% coverage of the DCI P3 colour gamut. It supports HDR and contrast enhancement, aiming to deliver clear and vibrant picture quality.
It will be available in three sizes—43", 55", and 65"—and three colour options: Sea Green, Cotton White, and Carbon Grey.
Unlike the premium Sky Glass Gen 2, which features a built-in Dolby Atmos soundbar, the Air model has a more modest 20W stereo speaker setup. Other trade-offs include the use of global dimming instead of local dimming and a lack of Sky Live compatibility.
Sky Glass Air retains the Entertainment OS platform, integrating Sky and third-party content into one interface. Users can control the TV via voice using the “Hello, Sky” feature and make use of the Playlist function to manage content across apps.
Sky plans a high-profile launch campaign for the product, including a dedicated unveiling event and wide availability through Currys both online and in stores.
The arrival of Sky Glass Air signals a strategic shift for Sky, as it aims to compete more directly in the crowded mid-range TV market while maintaining its streaming-first approach.
