Everton hit with new points deduction

Everton has suffered yet another point deduction following their second Profitability and Sustainability Rules breach, this time being deducted a further two points.

The Toffees had already been docked 10 points in November for the breach, which was then reduced to six after appeal, for a total of eight points lost this season. Nottingham Forest were also charged for the same breach in January and suffered a four-point deduction.

The two-point loss drops Everton one place in the table from 15th to 16th, now just two points ahead of 18th-placed Luton.

However, they will once again be appealing the decision, with their legal team working on such an appeal. Should they confirm it, a decision must be heard by 25th May, a week after the end of the Premier League season.

CinemaCon 2024 kicked off on Monday but Wednesday provided a showcase for some exciting upcoming movies from Warner Bros. Pictures.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice both received good reactions from the crowd when their trailers were being shown, but nothing came close to the excitement of seeing a new trailer for Joker: Folie a Duex.

The second instalment of Todd Phillips’ Joker films introduces Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck, better known as the Joker, to Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn.

The film is one of the most highly-anticipated flicks of the year, and the trailer supports the anticipation with it already pulling big numbers online.

5 aces at Augusta as Fowler wins Par-3 Contest

The Masters weekend kicked off with the annual Par-3 Contest as Rickie Fowler came away as this year's champion.

Fowler, accompanied by his wife Allison as his caddie and daughter Maya, shot a bogey-free 22 on the par-three course to finish with a two-shot victory over his competitors, despite the rest of the field making it rain with aces.

Five hole-in-ones were made during the contest, equalling last year's total, although Bryson DeChambeau did also dunk a par after his first shot went for a swim, so on a technicality let's call it six.

Attention then turned to day one of the Masters on Thursday, with day two, the all-important cut day, coming up later today. Check out our guide on how to watch the Masters this year for all the important details.

The video game-adapted Fallout series has finally arrived on our screens and it is certainly living up to fans of the games’ expectations.

The series, starring the likes of Ella Purnell (Yellowjackets) and Walton Goggins (The Hateful Eight), currently sits at 93% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes and was given a 9/10 from IGN, with the reputable publication waxing lyrical about the series and how it stays true to the stylings that made the games so popular while being easy to pick up for newcomers to the Fallout universe.

The full first season of Fallout is available to watch right now on Amazon Prime.

Weekend watchlist

There’s always plenty on if you know where to look. Here are three ideas of what to watch this weekend.

The Masters

Thursday 11th - Sunday 14th | Sky Sports Golf

The first major of the golfing season and arguably the biggest and most important event of the golfing year, The Masters has arrived, with the players taking on the iconic Augusta National golf course to claim the coveted Green Jacket.

Day one is already in the books, and later today will see the players fight to make the cut for the weekend. Be sure to tune in to all three remaining days from 2pm today, 7.30pm tomorrow and 6.30pm for the final round on Sunday.

Bayer Leverkusen vs Werder Bremen

Sunday 14th | 4:30pm | Sky Sports Mix

Bundesliga football may not be a priority for most here in the UK, but many eyes will surely be on Bayer Leverkusen this weekend as they aim to claim their first league title.

A win against Werder Bremen will secure it for them whilst keeping their undefeated season alive. You won’t want to miss it this Sunday.

Oppenheimer

Friday 12th | Sky Cinema

One-half of last Summer’s mega-blockbuster double release, Oppenheimer has finally arrived to Sky Cinema Premiere.

The multi-award-winning biopic is an absolute must-watch, so if none of the sports on offer takes your fancy this weekend, maybe try grabbing the popcorn and snacks and hunkering down for the three-hour Christopher Nolan epic.
