Our Sky review

Sky Sports offers a wide range of great live sports across their programming, with many channels tailored to specific sports, such as Premier League football, Formula 1 and PGA Tour golf.

It’s not just live coverage though, as most of the channels are supplemented with highlight programmes, news and discussion shows and fascinating documentaries from stars of the sport.

Best of all for Sky Stream and Sky Glass customers, all Sky Sports channels are available in HD at no extra cost!

Sky Sports Channels

There are a total of 12 Sky Sports channels, with most being dedicated to a specific sport. Of the 12 channels, three are free with any Sky TV package, while the rest can only be accessed with an applicable Sky Sports package.

Sky Sports Main Event

As the name suggests, this channel is for the Main Event of the day or weekend, showcasing the biggest ongoing event at the time. Whether that’s a Premier League match or the final day of The Masters, Main Event is the channel to tune in to.

Sky Sports Premier League

Sky Sports has the rights to 128 Premier League games, with all Friday night and Monday night fixtures shown exclusively on Sky, plus late kickoffs on Saturday’s and Super Sunday fixtures.

Sky Sports Football

Sky Sports Football is dedicated to the other leagues outside of the Premier League, such as the EFL, Scottish Premiership and more, plus selected ties from the Carabao Cup and England

Sky Sports Cricket

Sky Sports holds the majority of the rights to English cricket, including domestic and international competitions. This includes The Hundred, Vitality T20 Blast and all England international fixtures from IT20, ODI and Test series.

Sky Sports Golf

Sky Sports Golf offers the ultimate golf coverage for every fan of the sport. The channel allows viewers to watch competitions like the Majors and the European and PGA Tours exclusively. You'll also get all the live action from the Solheim Cup alongside exclusive interviews and even golf masterclasses with coaches like Butch Harmon to help improve your own game.

Sky Sports F1

Sky holds the exclusive broadcast rights to Formula 1, so the Sky Sport F1 channel is the only place where you can watch every race live with NO ad breaks. You can also find interviews, technical information and updates, highlights, expert punditry, and analysis during and between race weekends.

Sky Sports Tennis

Sky regained the rights to both the ATP and WTA Tours before the start of this season, which means they are the only place where you can watch all events from each tour live, plus exclusive US Open coverage.

Sky Sports Action

Sky Sports Action has no dedicated sports to show but instead shows a range of exciting action, if you will, including NFL, Netball and rugby union.

Sky Sports+

Sky Sports+ is the newest addition to the family and it packs a real punch, bringing over 50% more live sport over the year, including over 1000 EFL games from across the Championship, League One and League Two, plus more tennis, rugby union and lots more.

Sky Sports News

This channel brings you rolling news, 24 hours a day, from the world of sport. Everything from the breaking transfer stories to the latest interviews, as well as analysis, discussion, debate and highlights feature on Sky Sports News, so it's great for catching up with what's going on. And best of all, it’s free with any Sky TV package.

Sky Sports Racing

Horse racing goes on all year round, and Sky Sports has coverage of many of these events shown live on Sky Sports Racing, one of the three free sports channels they offer.

Sky Sports Mix

Similar to Sky Sports Action, Mix has a range of sports to offer which aren’t always the most well-known fixtures but are certainly entertaining watches nonetheless, especially when you can watch for free with your standard Sky TV package.

Sky Sports Box Office

Not a standard channel or one that is part of the Sky Sports packages, Box Office becomes available when you purchase an event that will be shown on the channel live, such as boxing.

How can I watch Sky Sports?

Sky is available to watch in various ways, not just from your Sky TV. It can be purchased through Virgin or BT, allowing you to watch on their TV services, or with NOW, who offer more options on flexible contracts.

Away from TV, you can take Sky Sports on the go with the Sky Go app, which is available for download on many devices, such as mobile, computer/laptop, tablet and game consoles.

Can I watch Sky Sports on NOW TV?

You can watch your favourite sports games using your NOW TV account via the NOW TV app.

Watching Sky Sports works by buying passes. There are three Sky Sports passes available with NOW TV; Day Membership, providing 24 hours of access; Flexible Monthly Membership, providing access for 31 days with the option to cancel anytime; and 12-Month Saver Membership, where you commit to a contract for 12 months.

Along with access to the Sky Sports channels, opting for the Flexible Monthly or 12-Month Saver Memberships will give you a seven-day free trial of Boost, which allows you to watch in full HD with better sound quality, plus two users streaming simultaneously.

Unless it is cancelled, NOW TV’s Flexible Monthly Membership for Sky Sports will auto-renew, whereas the Day Pass will not. So if you only intend to pay for a month, be sure to cancel it before it renews. This is also the case for Boost, which must be cancelled if you do not want to continue using it, otherwise, it’s an extra £6 a month.

How much is Sky Sports?

You can choose to purchase Sky Sports as part of a package deal, bundling together the base Sky TV with various paid-for extra services such as Sports and/or Cinema, or you can get Sky Sports as an add-on to your pre-existing package.

Sky are often running deals that will see great savings on their packages, so you should keep an eye out for one that suits you if you are on the lookout for a new TV service.

As for add-ons, you can choose if you want to a monthly rolling contract, allowing you the freedom to cancel whenever you’d like, or commit to a 24-month contract, which works out cheaper but obviously means you can’t cancel if you’d like to.

  • 31-day rolling – £25 a month
  • 24-month contract – £20 a month

Note: Prices correct as of 29/08/2024.
